Sazgar opens its first overseas plant in the Philippines
29 Oct 2026
Philippine President Marcos inaugurated Sazgar's three-wheeler assembly plant on 29 October; it is designed to assemble about 12,000 vehicles a year.
Sazgar Engineering Works, the Lahore company that also distributes Haval cars in Pakistan, has opened its first plant outside Pakistan. Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inaugurated the three-wheeler assembly plant on Thursday, 29 October 2026. It is designed to assemble about 12,000 vehicles a year.
What the plant does
The plant assembles three-wheeled passenger and commercial vehicles, in both electric and internal combustion engine versions. The 12,000 figure is the yearly capacity the plant was designed for, not what it has produced. The report does not say how many of the vehicles will be electric.
What was said at the opening
- Pakistan's embassy in the Philippines said Pakistan-made three-wheelers have entered the Philippine market, and that the embassy helped the company's entry.
- President Marcos described the plant as an important step for Philippine manufacturing and cleaner transport. He said Sazgar chose the Philippines as its first home outside Pakistan and as its base for Southeast Asia.
- Sazgar's own website says the company exports three-wheelers and parts to more than 20 countries.
These are statements by the embassy, the president and the company. The report does not verify them independently.
What it means for car buyers
The announcement concerns three-wheelers and exports. It does not change the price or availability of any car in Pakistan. Sazgar's car brand on this site is Haval, where each price carries its date and source.
What is not yet known
- No investment or job figures were given.
- The report does not say how much of each vehicle will be made from Philippine or Pakistani parts.
- It gives no date for the first vehicles to come off the line.
