BYD Shark earns five stars in Euro NCAP safety rating
11 Oct 2026
Euro NCAP gave the BYD Shark plug-in hybrid pickup five stars. The test car was a left-hand-drive European model, not a Pakistan-spec Shark 6.
Euro NCAP has rated the BYD Shark plug-in hybrid pickup five stars, according to Automotive World's report of the result. The scores were 82% for adult occupants, 86% for child occupants, 74% for vulnerable road users and 87% for safety assist. The test car was a left-hand-drive European model, so the result doesn't cover a Pakistan-spec Shark 6 directly.
How the rating was reached
Euro NCAP's assessment page says the rating builds on an ANCAP assessment made in 2025, with additional tests by Euro NCAP. Automotive World reports that Euro NCAP singled out the child-dummy protection in the side-barrier test, the child presence detection system and the speed assistance system. It calls the Shark BYD's ninth five-star model in Europe since 2022.
What the test car was
The page lists the tested car as a plug-in hybrid with left-hand drive. It also warns that other equipment may be available on a vehicle without having been part of the test. Automotive World describes the Shark DMO as a plug-in hybrid with two electric motors, a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 32.2kWh battery, but doesn't say which configuration was tested.
What it means for a Pakistani buyer
Pakistan drives on the left, so the cars sold here are right-hand drive, and equipment can differ from the European car. Treat the rating as a guide to the pickup's structure and safety systems, and check the safety list of the exact variant you are buying.
Our BYD Shark 6 listing shows the Premium at Rs 19,950,000, as recorded on 24 September 2026, with the sales tax basis not stated.
